On May 16, Karley and Timon tied the knot at Villa Marco Polo–this wedding was a masterpiece. Everything about it suited this sweet couple to a tee.

i-Hdd5PTL-XLi-sPq5RD7-XLThe custom invitations were created by Victoria’s Tuktu Paper.

The intimate wedding ceremony was breathtaking… and tear inducing. The couple’s gorgeous children, including their baby twins (seriously, how did they have the energy to plan such a gorgeous wedding?!), and their family surrounded them in the beautiful gardens.i-h3bdVvx-XLi-2zGg4XF-XLi-DzvmWzg-XLi-bJwLWgM-XLi-ZRNdBKZ-XL

Bash Specialty created a couple seating lounge areas that fit in beautifully at the elegant venue. The event was planned by Barb from French Kiss Events, photographed by Ryan McDonald Photography, the bride’s hair was done by Elena at Concious Hair and makeup was by Melanie Baird.

i-bbS9VVd-XLImmediately following the big kiss was a cocktail picnic reception with creative snacks, including a mashed potato bar, a pretzel bar catered by Toque Catering.i-48QNSPL-XLi-DD73GHs-XL

About 20 people stayed for dinner in the Villa Marco Polo’s exquisite dining room. Just before dinner started, local actors in costume came by and set up the scene for a murder, which the guests had fun solving over the course of the evening.

i-73zSxFh-XLThe colours were elegant, whites, greens and touches of grey, blue and gold, and they tied in with the surroundings of the elegant dining room. Solomon’s seal, beautiful fresh, spring flowers, including columbia, ranunculus, lily of the valley and viburnum—my fave spring flower of all (I just think it makes every arrangement spectacular). And. The. Tree. Peony. Let me tell you about the tree peony… Eidwenn from Cartref Gardens had them (they are virtually impossible to get) and was generous enough to cut some for me. They have the lush-but-refined, elegant look we were pulling together–and they were perfection. i-gFBTwNS-XL i-kTcB38c-XLi-HBL5Q6Z-XLCongratulations, Karley and Timon! Thank you for asking us to be a part of creating your perfect day.

Michelle and Phil were married in Tofino surrounded by a close family and friends. Pacific Rim National Park always promises a magical wedding setting and experience, but this weekend was something very very special.

Michelle’s dress was from The White Peony, Phil’s suit was from Outlooks (Phil is always in jeans and a t-shirt running around the floor of The Root Cellar, so it was nice to see him looking all dapper, and everyone commented on how nice he cleaned up).

Spring weddings are always my favourite as the product available is so beautiful. It was an explosion of the best of spring for this wedding. Almost everything was evocative of a garden coming to life. We made a special trip over to Earth Candy Farms on Saltspring and pick up some gorgeous antique varieties to tulips and then built the rest of the designs straight from the nursery. We used gorgeous early spring foliages like mexican orange blossom, spirea, pireis, hellebores, and delicate jasmine. The first of the most popular wedding flower, the peony, was available so we used beautiful white ones and gorgeous garden roses with some lily of the valley.

The ceremony was held in an old-growth rainforest where the guests nestled in a small clearing. (All images courtesy of Ameris Photography.) It poured rain the entire weekend. I’m talking torrential rain. So we were talking about having the ceremony indoors and making all kinds of plans around the state of the weather. And then… 20 minutes before the ceremony… the sun came out. In the end, the 32 guests trekked through the rainforest in rubber boots and wedding attire because the forest floor was so wet.

Michelle’s something borrowed was my veil from my wedding 14 years ago, it was sheer perfection on her in the magical setting of the old growth rainforest.

Elijah and Emilio performed a beautiful song for Phil during the ceremony and Michelle joined in at the end. Not a dry eye in the crowd, and a moment in time no one in attendance will ever forget.

Denise and Tyler… these two are so sweet and have to be one of the coolest couples we have ever worked with. Both pilots, there was a travel theme to the wedding, which took place on Pender Island. Denise and Tyler live in Calgary so they and their guests travelled to the beautiful island (Pender is one of the Southern Gulf Islands located along the Pacific Coast of British Columbia, near Vancouver, BC). The wedding venue was the famous Poets Cove Resort.
This wedding was a blast for us–it was like summer camp! A team of us travelled over and stayed at the resort for a few days with some of our closest wedding-vendor friends while we transformed the space.

The colours were our favourites: soft pinks and blush, pale peaches, spring green, creamy whites. Her dress was a the palest shade of blush and was layers and layers of tule.

One of my favourite moments was watching the ceremony from one of the guest rooms up above, and looking down and seeing the massive floral display we built on our mantle and all the rose petals coverign the aisle and the bridesmaids in their dresses and then Denise and Tyler standing up saying their vows. Everything looked gorgeous together everyone matched the flowers and it was magical.

Denise’s hair was by Elena Roberts of Conscious Hair and her makeup was by Mel Baird. Jenna & Tristan captured the day in photographs for the couple.

Our team at Verbena was over the moon when we were hired for the wedding of rowing champs Silken Laumann and David Patchell Evans. The Olympic gold medallist and GoodLife Fitness owner were planning an intimate wedding at their home in Victoria, BC, and asked us to create large floral arrangements, bouquets and boutonnieres, and also to put together the table decor.

We combined white and green flowers with touches of burgundy and merlot as a subtle and sophisticated nod to the colours of the Canadian Flag. The team drew on nature-evoking foliage like ferns and grasses, and used gorgeous lime green hops, fluffy white hydrangeas and breathtaking roses. On the table, we used touches of dark grey, antique-inspired votives and tall dark grey tapers to set the mood. Laura Prpich from Tuktu Paper was the genius behind all the paper goods and the gorgeous turquoise leather journals at the place settings (an ode to Silken’s love of journaling). She created all the place cards (each with a hand-stamped wax seal), the menus and programs. Each place setting also had a beautiful velvety chocolate cosmo on the napkin.

Truffles created the amazing food for the sit-down dinner for 30 people on Friday and the party for 100 the next night. Side One, the best wedding Band in BC came over from Vancouver and had the dance floor full til the wee hours of the morning.
Silken’s make up done by Erin Bradley. Silken got her dress and her veil at The White Peony. The beautiful Photography is by Kelly Brown Photography. Can you believe this incredible wedding was planned and coordinated by Barb of French Kiss Events in under six weeks?!
