A few weeks ago we were asked by Christine Smart out at Sea Cider if we would like to participate in an open house with them and Truffles Catering to showcase some ideas for all their upcoming weddings. We just had to use 2 of our favorite coloured roses “Cherry Brandy” and “Latin Ambiance” along with some beautiful fresh green viburnum and some pale pink lisianthus. This palette was one of the 2 we had chosen the other was of course the classic and timeless white and green. This we accomplished with a simple and modern arrangement of white and green and Hydrangea. Of course we dragged Jenna Shouldice (nee Tye) to capture our work with her artistic eye and lens. Gosh we are so spoiled to have such enourmesly talented friends who are willing to shoot for us. We met with some wonderful people and look forward to being able to work with them in the future.

This beautiful wedding of a beautiful couple took place over labour day weekend. This wedding was one we had looked forward to all year, because everytime autumn rolls around we are both reminded at how much we love this time of year with all it’s faboulous colours and textures. The entire wedding was a warm and wonderful affair filled with family and friends. We set up our little work station in the bride’s parent’s garage and spent the day before building the arrangements on site. We relished in the opportunity to witness the couple and their family and friends working towards creating this day. Our flower choices were easy, with sunflowers being the star attraction. We created table centrepices using small arrangements designed in mason jars and filled them with combinations of dahlias, calla lily’s, solidago an buplereum. The 2 large arrangements that flanked the pergola (a gift from the grooms parents) where the ceremony took place were filled with limelight hydrangea’s, sunflowers, fiber optic grass, and dahlia’s. The brides grandmother had a collection of old Roger’s sugar buckets that we filled with the same mix of flowers. The bridal bouquet was a perfect mix of burnt oranges, yellows, and greens using a mix of calla’s, roses, dahlia’s, freesia, hypericum, and buplereum, all wrapped up in a satin green ribbon. We just adored this couple and are thrilled they asked us to be a part of their day and to stay for the ceremony. This post is a record of the creation and set up photographed by our good friend, Jenna.  For a view of the finished product and pictures of the couple check out Karen McNeil and her blog post.

Shelley and Blair were fantastic! They were keen to have a “riot” of colour and we were happy to oblige. Shelley asked for bright and bold blooms for her bouquet and handed us a challenge with the addition of strings of orchid blooms to her bouquet. They were married in the Lokier Gardens with a reception at the Uplands Glof Club to follow. We were thrilled to catch Shelley and her bridesmaids as they were getting ready to leave the Villa Marco Polo where they were having their pictures taken by the extremely talented Keri Coles. Thank you Shelley for allowing us to snap a few pictures of you for our records. Everyone looked beautiful, the cascading blooms of orchids looked perfect against the subtle beading detail of Shelleys gown and the bright pinks, oranges and greens of the bridesmaids bouquets really  ”popped” with the pewter coloured dresses that they wore. The guys looked brilliant in their celedon green vests and ties. We very much look forward to seeing the “real” thing through the lens of Keri! Check out her blog with a bit of a sneek peek  http://www.kericoles.com/blog Thank you again Shelley and Blair it was a treat for us to work with you!

We were asked by a few local photographers to do some floral arrangements for their booths in the Westcoast Bridal Fair. For Ute at Fotoart Photography we chose to do an explosion of colour in a simple white bowl, we used bright pink gerberas, orange rose, and fuscia orchids all accented with hits of lime green in viburnum and cymbidiums.

For Karen and Jen at Bella Boudoir we created a lush and sexy arrangement of hot pink orchids in mokara’s and phalenopsis accented with black feathers, crystals and lush folliage.
