Yet another beautiful wedding held at the spectacular Sea Cider. Eva and her Mom came to visit us a few months ago to talk about her flowers for her wedding. We knew we would have a great time with her when we showed her a picture of a bridal bouquet made entirely out of herbs and she loved it!

Eva is not only an accomplished photographer she is also the coordinator of the Thrifty Food’s Demonstration Kitchen, so her appreciation of using things like herbs and blackberries in her bouquet thrilled us.

We created simple yet stunning arrangements of white asters and white lisianthus for the ceremony and lovely little bud vases filled with white lisianthus for the tables. We are eagerly awaiting the images from the uber-talented Helene Cyr. For now check out a sneek peak on her blog. Here are a few on Helen’s images of Eva’s beautiful bouquet.

Love the herb’s and berries….

And finally the tables

The poet and the actor/drama teacher.  Just sounds so romantic doesn’t it?  And they are.  Our first meeting with this great couple was a full on creative brainstorming session.  The elements that the couple wanted for their wedding day were full of meaning and symbolism for them.  The blackberry that was part of Ian’s boutonniere was to remind them of their first kiss beside a blackberry bush. Again Helene Cyr, captured this whole event beautifully check out her blog post about here.

The ceremony and reception took place at the beautifully relaxed and scenic Starling Lane Winery. The ceremony spot was marked with an antique table and some fabulous white orchid plants we stuffed into rustic looking galvanized metal buckets set on top of wine barrels.

Siobhan and Ian wanted a very relaxed atmosphere for their day, a fun celebration for close friends and family to recognize the love and joy they have brought to each others lives. Because words are a very important part of their lives,  a special part of the day was to be a couple of old typewriters set up in the old greenhouse for guests to write their thoughts and wishes for the newlyweds.

We have heard that the party was fabulous with dancing to the wee hours and kids who didn’t want to go home. Starling Lane has so much to look at; gardens, chickens and old buildings, that it is just a perfect venue for anyone looking for a laid back, country vibe.

Vanessa and our fabulous helper for the day, Marie, in front of the old water tower.

We are so happy to have been a part of the day and to help bring to fruition the vision for this couple.

We started planning this wedding back in January with the bride Karen and her Mom along with our very favorite and THE most capable and organized wedding planner we know, Christine Smart of Smart Events. After tossing around many, many ideas we narrowed it down to what became a most elegant combination of traditional white and green for the ceremony and dinner reception, and a riot of spicy, bright Indian inspired colours for the cocktail reception.  We were thrilled because sometimes it is so hard to decide between the bright, vibrant colours and the more subdued, always perfect, whites and greens. We didn’t have to decide, we did both! The whole day took place at the stunning home of the bride’s parents in Cordova Bay.  It was all hands on deck for this one as the timing  was tight.  We called in our most trusted and talented team of helpers and had such a great time; lots of diet coke, swollen ankles and sore feet. The ceremony was held in the huge white marquee, supplied by Apex Tents, with the guests seated in a circular fashion around the bridal couple.  Guests then wandered to the ocean side of the house for the high energy cocktail reception with elaborate food stations all catered by the ever popular and talented Truffles Catering. Meantime the Verbena team, the Truffles team, Christine and her good friend Gary (whom she was able to talk into coming all the way from Toronto to help her with all the details) were busily transforming the marquee for the sit down dinner to follow.  The gorgeous linens for the whole event were supplied by Around the Table from Toronto . We are posting our photos but stay tuned for the much anticipated “real” photos from the photographer Helene Cyr. We had so much fun with this wedding.  The bride and her Mom were wonderful to work and plan with.  Turns out the entire family was so gracious, friendly and welcoming that is was hard to say goodbye and wrap it up.

We met with Kathrin way back in January and have been planning this wedding with her ever since, so to see it finally come to life was awesome. The ceremony took place at the English Inn and the reception was at the beautiful and regal Victoria Golf Club, one of the most elegant dining rooms in the city. Kathrin asked for pink, pink, and more pink. We created lush arrangements with roses, lisianthus and lily’s in an english country garden style. We used both tall arrangements on Eiffel tower vases and short ones, which created a very dramatic effect. The main piece and the one we talked about the most, was the extraordinary mantle arrangement that we built on site. We covered it in mounds of pink and white flowers, it was a spectacular addition to the room. We look forward to seeing how the incomparable Helene Cyr’s captured the day for a sneek peek of what she captured check out her blog here…Helene Cyr…. Thank you to Kathrin and Ian, we will miss the emails!
